IDABEL, Okla.—Darren Ellsworth "D.D." Byrd, 47, of McCurtain County, Okla., died Monday, Jan. 29, 2018. Mr. Ellsworth was born April 11, 1970, in Idabel. He was retired from Tyson's, formerly employed with City of Idabel Cemetery Department and a member of Springhill Missionary Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Ida "Chorcey" Byrd; eight children, Kiara Byrd of Commerce, Texas, Deveshia Nolen of Paris, Texas, Chendre "Zakia" Lewis of Durant, Okla., RaQuitta Williams of Broken Bow, Okla., Colton Butler of Idabel, Darnell Wallace of Wright City, Okla., Marquell McFalls of Nashville, Ark., and Andre "Shawn" Lewis of Tulsa, Okla.; his mother, Thelma Johnson of Idabel; four brothers, Jerry Jefferson of Texarkana, Norman T. Byrd of Ada, Okla., and Billy Byrd Jr. and Reggie C. Byrd; one sister, Mary Whitfield of Idabel; 16 grandchildren; and a number of other relatives. Services were Feb. 10 at Idabel High School Daryl Buzan Auditorium with the Rev. Allen Gulley officiating. Burial was in Oak Grove Cemetery under direction of Nunley's Funeral Home.
