SPRINGHILL, La.—Fred R. Denmon, 84, of Atlanta, Texas, died Friday, Dec. 29, 2017, in Texarkana, Texas. Mr. Denmon was born May 1, 1933, in Sarepta, La. He was retired from International Paper, a football announcer for Sarepta High School, and member of Webster Parish School Board and Federal Credit Union's board of directors. He was also a Sunday school teacher, church clerk and choir director at Old Sarepta Missionary Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by one son, Steve Denmon. Survivors include his wife, Dixie Frazier Denmon of Atlanta; one daughter, Sheri Denmon of Atlanta; one sister, Jan Brewton of Shongaloo, La.; six grandchildren, Jeremy Moore of Ruston, La.; Jamie Palmer of Shreveport, La.; Kamie Watson of Springhill; Ronnie Denmon, Amanda Denmon and Shawna Denmon of Cummings, Ga.; six great-grandchildren; one special nephew, Mike Denmon of Springhill; and a number of other relatives. Services were Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2018, at Old Sarepta Missionary Baptist Church with the Revs. Tim Everett, Todd Pickard and Charles Woolley officiating. Burial was in Old Sarepta Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Online registration is at baileyfuneralhome.net.
