STEPHEN SPARKS

DeKALB, Texas—Stephen J. Sparks, 65, of Hooks, Texas, died Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2018, at his home. Mr. Sparks was born Aug. 31, 1952, in Kansas City, Mo. He was a retired teacher with FCI Texarkana and Liberty Eylau ISD and a member of the National Rifle Association and First Baptist Church, DeKalb. Survivors include his wife, Elaine Sparks of Hooks; two sons and daughters-in-law, James and Mindy Sparks of DeKalb and Danny and Wendi Sparks of Sanger, Texas; one daughter, Christina Sparks of Hooks; one brother, Eric Sparks of Tucson, Ariz.; five grandchildren; and a number of other relatives. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, DeKalb, with Roy Ford officiating. Burial will be in Woodmen Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
