COLUMBUS MATTHIS JR.

LOS ANGELES, Calif.—Columbus Matthis Jr., 72, of Inglewood, Calif., died Monday, Jan. 8, 2018, at his home. Mr. Matthis was born Jan. 31, 1945, in Cass County, Texas. He was retired from Northrop Grumman, an usher and member of City of Refuge, and a former member of Rock of Ages Baptist Church, Annona, Texas. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Matthis. Survivors include three daughters, Angela Matthis, Michelle Matthis and Nishaye Matthis; three sisters, Betty Williams of Dallas, Texas, and Ann Murray and Tammie Matthis of Annona; two brothers, Paul Matthis of Dallas and William Matthis of Midlothian, Texas; one granddaughter, Dawntasia Matthis; two great-granddaughters; 14 nieces and nephews; and a number of other relatives. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at City of Refuge Church, Gardena, Calif., under direction of Angelus Funeral Home.
