DeKALB, Texas—Mildred Mozelle McMillan, 96, of Winona, Texas, died Sunday, Jan. 14, 2018, at her home. Mrs. McMillan was born Jan. 11, 1922 in the College Hill community near Dekalb. She was retired from Lone Star Army Ammunition Plant, a retired bus driver with Bowie County Independent School System, a charter member of Dalby Springs Home Demonstration Club and a Sunday school teacher and member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, James E. McMillan; and one great-grandson, Christopher Daniel Aills. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Imma Jean McMillan of Mount Pleasant, Texas, and Bobby Dan and Jill McMillan of DeKalb; one daughter, Mary Jo Sheridan of Winona; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives. Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Sam Reeves officiating. Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery under direction of Bates Family Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at the church. Memorials may be made to New Hope Cemetery Association, DeKalb. Online registration is at batesfamilyfuneralhome.com.
