HUGHES SPRINGS, Texas—Janice Nichols McDaniel Callaway, 89, of Hughes Springs died Saturday, Jan. 20, 2018. Mrs. Callaway was born Aug. 13, 1928, in Onyx, Ark. She was a retired U.S. Postal Service clerk, seamstress and member of First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Wil lie O'Dell "Bud" McDaniel and Porter Callaway. Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law, Kay and Don Humphrey of Hughes Springs and Debbie McDaniel of Laneville, Texas; four grandchildren and three grandchildren-in-law, Alan Strickland and Jimmy Don "Hollywood" and Darla Humphrey of Hughes Springs, Melinda Strickland of Metairie, La., and Laura Humphrey and Stephen Currey of Mount Pleasant, Texas; five great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church with Joseph Adams officiating. Burial will be in Hughes Springs Cemetery under direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Quilting Club at Cross Roads, P.O. Box 816, Hughes Springs, TX 75656.
