James Owen
NEW BOSTON, Texas—James Maxwell Owen, 91, of New Boston died Sunday, July 1, 2018, at a local nursing home.
Mr. Owen was born Sept. 28, 1926, in Lubbock, Texas. He was a retired Marines sergeant, retired branch chief of maintenance at Red River Army Depot,
and member of Maud Masonic Lodge and First Baptist Church, New Boston, where he taught Sunday school.
He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. Mr. Owen was preceded in death by his wife, Delores Owen.
Survivors include two sons, James "Max" Owen of Texas and Clyde Wayne Owen of Little Rock, Ark.; three brothers and two sister-in-law, Theo "Dwight" and Mary Owen of New Boston, Elliott Grice and Linda Owen of Spring Branch, Texas, and Kenneth Owen of Texarkana, Texas; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Frances Reid of Oklahoma City and
Patricia and Burl Minter of Simms, Texas; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a number of other
relatives.
Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Bates Rolf Funeral Home with Dr. Patrick Hunter officiating. Burial will be in New Boston Cemetery.
