LEON PESEK SR.

Leon Francis Pesek, Sr., 89, of Texarkana, Texas, died Saturday, July 7, 2018, in a local nursing home. Judge Pesek was born Sept. 17, 1928 in Yoakum, Texas. He was a retired 102nd District Judge; a founding board member of Opportunities Inc., a member of Caddo Council Boy Scouts of America Board, Wilburt Smith Rotary Club, Paul Harris Fellow, Knights of Columbus 4th Degree and Sacred Heart Catholic Church and a Korean War Army veteran and former JAG officer. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Sue Hutchins Pesek; and one son, Michael Joseph Pesek. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Judge Leon Jr. and Beth Pesek of Texarkana and Phil and Denise Pesek of Georgetown, Texas; one daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Bob Long of Wake Village, Texas; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives. Mass services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. Michael Adams officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery under direction of Texarkana Funeral Home, Texas. Rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Friday with visitation following at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Opportunities Inc., 6101 N.
