Olevia Mae Ellis, 99, a resident of Hooks, Texas since 1938, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, July 8, 2018 at St. Michael Hospital, Texarkana, TX. Mrs. Ellis was born in Lewisville, Arkansas in the Boyd Hill Community. In 1936, she married John L. Ellis, who preceded her in death after 69 years of marriage. In 1984, Mrs. Ellis retired from St. Michael Hospital Convent after being employed there for over 24 years. She was also the last living founding member of the 78 year old Cedar Grove Baptist Church of Hooks. For the past eight years, Mrs. Ellis was honored by the Top Ladies of Distinction, Inc, Twin City Chapter, as a "Nonagenarian" in their annual celebration. Her survivors include three sons, Huey L. Ellis, Tyler, TX; Herman C. Ellis, Tucson, AZ; Kenneth E. Ellis, Texarkana, TX; one daughter, Deborah M. Fields, New Boston, TX; one sister, Mrs. Mattie E. Hubbard, Los Angeles, CA; a cousin, B. C. Allen, Texarkana. TX; three generations of grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and several other cousins. Funeral service will be held at the Cedar Grove Baptist Church of Hooks on Saturday, July 14th at 11 am. Pastor Jeffery Hayes will serve as the officiant and former Pastor Gaylon Anderson, Little Rock, AR as the eulogist. Burial will be in the Cedar Springs Community Cemetery at Hooks under the direction of Lomax Funeral Home of Dallas, Texas, 214-428-1266.
