JOHN McCAULEY JR.

Rev. John L. McCauley, Jr. was born February 8, 1929, in Houston, Texas, and had lived most of his life in Texarkana. He passed away Sunday, July 22, 2018, at St. Michael Hospital surrounded by friends and family. Ordained for over 67 years, he served in the Congregational Methodist Church throughout North East Texas. He served the Lord all his life. John was a skilled sheet-metal worker in his early career, which later paid off while remodeling his family home in the 70's. He was elected to serve two terms on the City Council of Texarkana, Texas in the 60's. John worked as a civil servant at Red River Army Depot until his retirement in 1991. He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife, Patricia Ann McCauley, and the mother of his first two children, Betty McCauley. Survivors include: one brother-in-law, Frank Stark, Jr. of Atlanta, Texas; two sisters-in-law, Kattie Humphry of Delight, Arkansas, and Betty Hinds of Merritt Island, Florida; a son, Brent Richert of Colorado Springs, Colorado; four daughters, Carol Daniels of Redwater, Texas, Susan Butler of Texarkana, Texas, Cynthia Smith of Avery, Texas, and Faith Williams of Texarkana, Arkansas; 6 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 26, at 11 a.m., at the Chapel of the Living Christ, Congregational Methodist Church, located at 2802 Jefferson Avenue with Rev. Leon McDowell officiating. Visitation with the family will be held at the church after the service. Light refreshments will be served. Burial will be at Memorial Gardens under the direction of Texarkana Funeral Home Arkansas.
