LARETTA GATES

Laretta Gates, 80, of Hooks, Texas, died Friday, May 18, 2018, at a local hospital. Mrs. Gates was born Oct. 14, 1937, in Hooks. She was a homemaker and a member of Red Bank Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, Melvin Gates of Hooks; one daughter, Wanda Booker of Hooks; four brothers, Earnest Dixon and Roosevelt Dixon of Texarkana, Mack Dixon of Wright City, Okla., and Mert Dixon of Kansas City; three sisters, Betty Maddox of Minneapolis and Tilda Sims and Marilyn Range of Hooks; and two grandchildren. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Red Bank Baptist Church with the Rev. Herman Gooden officiating. Burial will be in Red Bank Cemetery under direction of Haynes Mortuary.
