Robert Lee Turk, age 81, of Texarkana, Arkansas passed away Friday, May 31, 2018 in a local hospital surrounded by his family. Mr. Turk was born January 12, 1937 in Grundy, Virginia to Arthur and Gay Turk. Mr. Turk joined the United States Marine Corps on January 12, 1954. He retired on January 11, 1975 at the rank of Master Sergeant after 21 years of service. His accomplishments included: Advanced Parachute Badge/Gold Wing(Jumpmaster), Master Rigger, Air Medal w/ Strike x3, Navy Marine Corps Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Presidential Unit Citation, Navy Unit Commendation, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Good Conduct Medal x5, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Over Seas Service Medal, Sea Service Medal, Marine Corp Recruiting Ribbon, Republic Vietnam Service Medal w/ Cross of Gallantry, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation, Expert Rifle Badge, and Expert Pistol Badge. He was also the owner of Bob Turk Roofing for over 30 years. He was preceded in death by two sons; Mikey and Darby Turk. He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law; Kelly Turk-Arehart and her husband J.D. of Texarkana, Arkansas; one son and daughter-in-law, Brian Turk and his wife Michelle of Texarkana, Texas; three grandchildren, Chase Arehart, Brittany Hixson, and Casey Turk; 5 great-grandchildren; his brother Rick Turk of Springfield, Missourri, his "adopted" daughter Nancy Harmon and her husband Ray, and Pat Turk. A memorial service will be held 11AM, Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at Faith Baptist Church with Bro. Gary Glover officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Faith Baptist Church or Vietnam Veterans Association.
