DeKALB, Texas—Allen Jerrel Cooper, 88, of DeKalb died Thursday, June 21, 2018, at his home. Mr. Cooper was born May 6, 1930, in College Hill community, Texas. He was a retired school superintendent for Malta ISD and DeKalb ISD, a member of DeKalb Masonic Lodge No. 9, DeKalb, and Cenacle Catholic Church, New Boston, Texas, and a Korean War Air Force veteran. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Ann Willesen Cooper. Survivors include three daughters and one son-in-law, Laura and Bill Thompson and Michelle Cooper of DeKalb and Denise Duey of Mount Pleasant, Texas; one son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Connie Cooper of DeKalb; one brother-in-law, Ron Galvan of Kansas City, Mo.; one sister-in-law, Linda Galvan of Kansas City; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Bates Family Funeral Home with Leon Blake, Anne Farris and Robby Bates officiating. Burial will be in Woodmen Cemetery.
