Mrs. Samuel Moore, Sr. Age, 99 yrs -3 months of Ashdown Arkansas, died Friday, February 23, 2018. Mrs. Moore was born November 13, 1918 in Ashdown. She attended New Millinneum Baptist Church, in Little Rock, with the Rev. Wendell Griffen of Little Rock during eight of her last ten years of life and returned to her childhood home church of New Zion Baptist Church in Ashdown Arkansas for the last two years of her life. Mrs. Moore was a former almost five decade school teacher in the Texarkana Independent School District, and the Ashdown School District.Mrs. Moore attended The University of Arkansas in Pine Bluff and graduated from Bishop College in Dallas Texas, in 1951. She completed a Master's Degree at Texas A & M Prairie View(1964) and additional graduate studies at in Counseling Psychology at Texas A & M, Texarkana. Mrs. Moore met Mr. Samuel Moore, Sr. While he was conducting a funeral in Ashdown, Arkansas; she thought he was rich and very kind because he was driving a car and being himself (kind and nurturing) with the family. Moore often told others, she made up her mind quickly to "get him", and they married shortly thereafter, with funds from her mother's coin purse; they celebrated their fifty year anniversary March 13, 1991. Moore and her husband, Samuel owned Moore's Funeral Homes, Ashdown and Texarkana locations since 1977. She was a licensed funeral director since 1980. She is survived by her heart, her daughter and ten year caretaker, Dr. Alda Moore, psychologist. First visitation will be held at the Moore's Family funeral home, 118 Dougherty, Ashdown, Arkansas 71822 870-898-5194, on Friday, March 2, 2018 from four pm until seven pm. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday at Oak Street Baptist Churh, of Texarkana pastored by Rev. Louis B. George, with the Reverend Wendell Griffen of Little Rock delivering the eulogy. Services and arrangements provided by Woodrow Stuart, LFD. Mrs. Moore loved her second career in Professional Funeral Service in a way comparable to her love of her fifty years of teaching, but she loved the Lord more, family, friends and all who crossed her way. She was just a little short in height BUT TALL in caring nurturing and loving.
