THURMON DANSBY SR.

Thurmon Davis Dansby Sr., 91, of Texarkana, Ark., died Friday, Feb. 23, 2018, in a local nursing home. Mr. Dansby was born June 12, 1926, in Mandeville, Ark. He was a retired postal clerk, a Methodist and a Korean War Army veteran. He was preceded in death by his wife, Vernice N. Casteel Dansby; and one son, Thurmon Davis Dansby Jr. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy B. Smith Dansby of Texarkana; three sons and one daughter-in-law, Craig Dansby and Wayne Dansby of Milwaukee and Myron and Cynthia Dansby of Blooming Grove, N.Y.; one daughter and son-in-law, Arleen Dansby-White and Carl White of Tallahassee, Fla.; one brother and sister-in-law, Lorcie and Frankie of Portland, Ore.; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives. Closed casket services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church with the Rev. John Dansby officiating. Burial will be in Fair Haven Cemetery under direction of Lyles Funeral Home. Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home and 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. Online registration is at lylesfuneralhomeinc.com.
