MELVIN SNIDER

NEW BOSTON, Texas—Melvin Eugene Snider, 87, of Hooks, Texas, died Wednesday, March 7, 2018, in a local hospital. Mr. Snider was born Feb. 20, 1931, in Maud, Texas. He was a retired mechanic, a member of First Baptist Church, Hooks, and an Army veteran. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann. Survivors include two sons and one daughter-in-law, Melvin Jr. and Chonge Snider of Humble, Texas, and Gary Snider of Hooks; five grandchildren, Gary Snider Jr., Susie, Susan, Chad and Melissa; four great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives. Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church, Hooks, with the Revs. Grant Sutton and Roy Ford officiating. Burial will be in Rock Creek Cemetery, Maud, under direction of Bates-Rolf Funeral Home. Visitation will be 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
