BILLY MARTIN

DeKALB, Texas—Billy Ray Martin, 86, of DeKalb died Wednesday, March 14, 2018, at a local nursing home. Mr. Martin was born April 1, 1931, in Simms, Texas. He was a truck driver, previous Bowie County Justice of the Peace for Precinct 4 and a Baptist. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ouida Wright Martin. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Tim Kafer of New Boston, Texas; one son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Julie Martin of Mesquite, Texas; one sister, Lydia Wooten of New Boston; one granddaughter, Jenna Martin of Mesquite; and a number of other relatives. Graveside services will be 4:30 p.m. today at Sand Hill Cemetery, Simms, with Steve Minter officiating. Burial will be under direction of Bates Family Funeral Home.
