HUGHES SPRINGS, Texas—Helen Alford, 92, of Avinger, Texas, died Monday, March 19, 2018. Ms. Alford was born June 18, 1925. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmie Alford Sr. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Jimmie "Stinky" and Delana Alford; one sister, Dixie Allen; one brother, Ray Bennett; two grandchildren, Brandi Alford and Trey Alford; two great-grandchildren, Addison Lawrence and Dakota Lawrence; one special niece, Neva McClurg; and a number of other relatives. Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Avinger United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Avinger Cemetery under direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Avinger Cemetery Association. Online registration is at reeder-davis.com.
