DERA JONES

Dera Jones, 80, of Texarkana, Texas, died Sunday, March 18, 2018, in a local hospital. Mrs. Jones was born Sept. 15, 1937, in Camp Hill, Ala. She was a retired CNA and a former choir member, usher and member of Evergreen Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, Hershal Jones of Texarkana; two sons, Vincent Golette of Killeen, Texas, and Derrick Golette of Dallas, Texas; four daughters, Pat Daniels, Rosa Golette, Veronica Davis and Phyllis Harrison of Texarkana; three stepsons, Hershal Jones Jr. of Texarkana, Cedric Jones of Hope, Ark., and Timothy Jones of Wake Village, Texas; one stepdaughter, Creamalia Hopkins; her stepmother, Dennie Hicks of Apopka, Fla.; four brothers, James Stinson of Syracuse, N.Y., and Tommie Hicks, Melvin Hicks and Linden Hicks of Apopka; 15 sisters, Brucie Mae Hicks, Annie Newsome, Elizabeth Sims, Betty Gorden, Margaret Robinson, Peggy Cartwright, Bernice Lewis, Elain Hicks, Mildred Hicks and Edith Hicks of Apopka, Rochell Marsh-Womble of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Linda Avery, Mary Brown, Mary Evans and Faye Seroyer of Camp Hill; one stepbrother, Jerome Edwards; 22 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Evergreen Baptist Church with the Rev. A.T. Jordan Sr. officiating. Burial will be in Chapelwood Memorial Gardens Cemetery under direction of Haynes Mortuary.
