ALTA WHITTEN

Alta Marie Corbell Whitten, 86, of Texarkana, Texas, died Thursday, March 29, 2018, in a local nursing home. Mrs. Whitten was born Feb. 3, 1932, in Sevier County, Ark. She was retired from GTE, former owner of Ruth's Flowers and a member of Downtown First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Whitten; and one daughter, Mitzi Whitten Morgan. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Debbie Whitten of Texarkana; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Shelba Elliott, Clara and Jimmie Taylor and Ruthie Allen of Texarkana; three grandchildren, Cason Morgan of Denver and Hailey Whitten and Hensley Whitten of Texarkana; and a number of other relatives. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Texarkana Funeral Home, Texas, with the Rev. Dennis Gibbons officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
