ALTA WHITTEN

Alta Marie Corbell Whitten, age 86, of Texarkana, Texas, died Thursday, March 29, 2018 in a local retirement center. Mrs. Whitten was born February 3, 1932 in Sevier County, Arkansas. She was retired from GTE, former owner of Ruth's Flowers and a member of the Downtown First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Whitten, by one daughter, Mitzi Whitten Morgan, and by one brother, Henry Lewis Corbell. She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Debbie Whitten of Texarkana, Texas; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Shelba Elliott of Texarkana, Texas, Clara and Jimmie Taylor of Texarkana, Texas, Ruthie Allen of Texarkana, Texas; three grandchildren, Cason Morgan of Denver, Colorado, Hailey Whitten of Texarkana, Texas, Hensley Whitten of Texarkana, Texas and a number of other relatives. Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday at the Texarkana Funeral Home, Texas with the Rev. Dennis Gibbons officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
