Elsie Self

DeKALB, Texas—Elsie Margaret Self, 100, of Lewisville, Texas, died Thursday, May 3, 2018, in a local nursing home. Mrs. Self was born Aug. 19, 1917, in Waurika, Okla. She was a Sunday School teacher and member of Old Salem Baptist Church and attended Flower Mound First Baptist Church, Lewisville. She was preceded in death by her husband, David N. Self Sr.; and one great-granddaughter, Megan Hagen. Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law, Sylvia Hankins of Fort Myers, Fla., and Cynthia and Rick Napps of Highland Village, Texas; two sons and one daughter-in-law, David Jr. and Kay Self of New Boston, Texas, and Dennis Self of Terrell, Texas; one sister, Katherine Devlin; one sister-in-law, Helen Beth Kafer; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives. Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Bates Family Funeral Home with the Revs. Kelly Shanks and A.M. Adams officiating. Burial will be in Old Salem Cemetery, New Boston.
