NAPLES, Texas—Alvin Dewey "A.D." Banks, 96, of Omaha, Texas, died Saturday, May 5, 2018, in Mount Pleasant, Texas. Mr. Banks was born Feb. 1, 1922, in Newsome, Texas. He was a homebuilder, volunteer Franklin County sheriff's deputy, retired from the fields department in Titus County and a former employee of McCullough Tools and Mrs. Baird's Bread. He was a Baptist, member of David Elliott Masonic Lodge 674, past president of Mount Vernon and Mount Pleasant rodeo associations and an Army veteran. Survivors include his wife, Ava Banks of Omaha; two stepdaughters and one son-in-law, JoAnn and Jimmy Smith of Ardmore, Okla., and Peggy Chappell of Carthage, Texas; six grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great grandchildren; and a number of other relatives. Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Harrison Funeral Home with Kerry Adamek officiating. Burial will be in Maple Springs Cemetery, Leesburg, Texas. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
