GLENDA CARRUTHERS

CLARKSVILLE, Texas—Glenda Carruthers, 94, of Clarksville died Friday, April 27, 2018, in a local nursing home. Ms. Carruthers was born Nov. 1, 1923, in Clarksville. She was co-owner of a barbeque and hamburger facility and a member of Evergreen Baptist Church and St. James Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie Carruthers. Survivors include one son, John E. Carruthers of Vallejo, Calif.; one daughter, Pauline Anderson of San Francisco, Calif.; two sisters, Ola Mae Dickerson and Helen Griffin of Clarksville; one brother, Wayne Black of Clarksville; four stepbrothers, James Beatty of Kansas City, Kan., and Joe Beatty, Robert Beatty and Gormaze Beatty of Wichita Falls, Texas; one stepsister, Thelma Owens of Fort Worth, Texas; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Citizens Funeral Home with the Rev. Joe Liggins officiating. Burial will be in Free Hope Cemetery. Online registration is at citizensfuneralhome.com.
