BEN SANDEFUR

Ben G. Sandefur, 81, of Texarkana, Texas, died Friday, Nov. 9, 2018, in a local hospice after a lengthy illness. Mr. Sandefur was born July 15, 1937, in Mineola, Texas. He was an auditor, president and CEO with State First National Bank, chairman of the Arkansas Association of Bank Holding Companies, president of Texarkana Chamber of Commerce and board of trustees of Texarkana College, charter president of Volunteer Services Bureau, chairman of United Way, co-chair of Capital Campaign for Bunch-Woodview Alzheimer's Center, treasurer of Holly Mound Hunting Club, member of Texarkana College Foundation Board, Leadership Texarkana Board, St. Michaels Hospital Foundation Board, Boys Club of Texarkana Board and State Bar Grievance Committee, a deacon with Trinity Presbyterian Church and a member of First Presbyterian Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Sandefur. Survivors include three sons and two daughters-in-law, Michael R. and Vicky Sandefur and Jeffrey A. and Terry Sandefur of Texarkana and Gregory C. Sandefur of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; one nephew, Jerry William Sandefur of Colorado; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a number of other relatives. Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Williams Memorial United Methodist Church. Private burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park under direction of Texarkana Funeral Home, Texas.
