John Earl "Cajun" Fedric, age 71, of Texarkana, TX, died Friday, November 23, 2018 at his residence after a long battle with cancer surrounded by his family. He was born on August 2, 1947 in Ferriday, LA and was preceded in death by his parents, John L. & Velton E. Fedric. He is survived by his wife of fifty one years, to the day, Jennie Perkins Fedric of Texarkana, a son, Jason S. Fedric of Baton Rouge, LA, a daughter and son-in-law, Jacy Noel and Michael Grossman of Dallas, TX, four grandchildren, Caje Fedric, Noel Grossman, Claire Grossman and Miller Grossman, a sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Keith Langlois and two nephews, Lucas and Jordy Langlois in addition to numerous other friends he called family. John was born in Ferriday, and raised in Baton Rouge, LA, where he, his wife and two children lived until 1992 when he took a job as a sales manager for Baker Valve Machine Shop and moved Texarkana. The first thing he did was find a church for him and his family. His first choice was Hardy Memorial where he was embraced by all. His family quickly became active members of Hardy Memorial United Methodist Church. His wife, Jennie, was the church secretary for 17 years. He was a past member of the Board of Trustees, a member of Methodist Men and the Service Sunday School Class. John was a loving person who had many interest and adventures during his life. He loved working on and racing cars, playing golf at Howell Park in Baton Rouge, commonly known as the "the goat ranch". He was an avid sports fan, he coached his sons pee wee football team, The Broncos, and he played league basketball and later "coached" his granddaughters to play. John was an "Alumni by Choice" of LSU, where both his wife and son graduated. He and Jennie attended many games before and after moving to Texarkana. Being a huge sports fan, his first friend, and he had many, were Jack Mills who took him under his wing and introduced him to all the guys. Also Leo DeLaroso who named him "Cajun" and the name stuck in Texarkana. He was a great Cajun cook and loved a good crawfish boil and always enjoyed his Friday afternoon water volleyball matches. The family will receive friends at 1 p.m. at Hardy Memorial UMC on Wednesday, November 28, 2018. A memorial service will follow at 3 p.m. with Rev Patrick Evans officiating. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Hardy Memorial UMC building fund or the LSU Foundation. Arrangements are under the care of Texarkana Funeral Home, TX.
