Garland "Derrell" Rushing, Army Sargent E5 (honorably discharged 1961) filled with the gift of the Holy Ghost, has been honorably discharged to Heaven into the arms of Jesus on October 5, 2018 at the age of 86. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, October 7, 2018 at Apostolic Life UPC in Fouke, AR, officiated by Rev. Ricky Jeane. Burial will follow at Concord "Little Church" Cemetery in Fouke, AR. There will be a time of visitation from 6-8 PM on Saturday, October 6th at Gorsulowsky Funeral Home in Vivian, LA. Derrell was born on March 4, 1932 in Fouke, Arkansas to Franklin and Martha Smith Rushing. Darrell is preceded in death by both of his parents, one sister Dorothy Rushing Pharr, one brother Kenneth Rushing, and a great grandson Nathan Lindsey. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Melba M. Bickham (Sanders) Rushing of Jefferson, TX, a daughter Regina Yvenne Rushing of Oil City, LA, son Chris W. Rushing of Kermit, TX, and son Gerald Rushing and wife of Oil City, LA. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be his grandsons Michael, Caleb, and Cody Rushing, great-grandsons Landon and Andrew. Honorary pallbearer will be Jewell Everet Coker. The family would like to thank the Northwest Louisiana Veterans Home in Bossier City, LA for their care of Mr. Rushing.
