NEW BOSTON, Texas—Hiram Douglas Shute, 90, of New Boston died Thursday, Oct. 11, 2018, in a Texarkana hospice. Mr. Shute was born March 18, 1928, in Dierks, Arkansas. He was former owner of Piggly Wiggly, New Boston, former director of Century Bank, Texarkana, charter member of New Boston Chamber of Commerce, a member of Special Industrial Development Board, New Boston, Texarkana Military Affairs Committee and First Baptist Church, New Boston, and an Army and Air Force veteran. He was preceded in death by his his wife, Inez Shute; and one son Lee Shute. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, David and Kelly Shute of Texarkana; one sister, Rosaland Shaw of Texarkana; two granddaughters and one grandson-in-law, Michele Shute of Grand Prairie, Texas, and Kimberly and Braden McDaniel of New Boston; two great-grandchildren, Cannon and Connor McDaniel of New Boston; and one special friend, Patsy Green of Texarkana. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, New Boston, with Dr. Ken Cox and Steve Minter officiating. Burial will be in Ringwood Cemetery, New Boston, under direction of Bates-Rolf Funeral Home. Visitation will be 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the church.
