HOPE, Ark.—Loretta James Garrett, 87, of Hope died Saturday, Oct. 27, 2018. Mrs. Garrett was born Oct. 9, 1931, in Hope. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Burgess Garrett. Survivors include one son, Bruce Garrett; two daughters, Melanie Jordan and Becky Steele; one brother, Maj. Gen. William Kirk James; five grandchildren, Dr. Celeste McMaster, Stan Koger, Amy Gattis, Garrett Steele and Sarah Cole; three great-grandchildren; and seven nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be 7 p.m. today at First Baptist Church, Hope, with Stan Parris officiating. Private burial will be today with the Rev. Rodney Steele officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Herndon-Fuqua Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the church. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, Hope.
