Curtis Lee Beed, 71, of Kansas City, Kan., died Friday, Aug. 24, 2018, at a local nursing home. Mr. Beed was born April 27, 1947, in Texarkana, Ark. He was retired from General Motors, a Sunday school Superintendent, Head Deacon, Dean of Christian Education and Finance Committee member of Galilee Missionary Baptist Church, Kansas City, and a Marine Corp veteran. Survivors include one son, Curtis Beed Jr. of Kansas City; five stepchildren, Andrew Ford and Mickey Whisonant of Kansas City, Lee Smith of Lewisville, Ark., Christine Douglas of Marion, La., and Edward Ray Ford of Crossett, Ark.; five brothers, Billy Beed of Terrytown, La., Kenneth Beed and William Beed of Texarkana, Bobby Beed of Bakersville, Calif., and Bennie Beed Jr. of Magazine, Ark.; two sisters, Jessie Mae Beed of Texarkana and Mary Young of Roseville, Calif.; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a number of other relatives. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Church of the Living God Temple No. 4 with Albert Walker and Bishop T.L. Taylor officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens Cemetery under direction of Lyles Funeral Home. Visitation will be 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home. Online registration is at lylesfuneralhomeinc.com.
