ATLANTA, Texas—Thad K. Harrist, 89, of Doddridge, Ark., died Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2018, in a Texarkana, Texas hospital. Mr. Harrist was born March 6, 1929, in Doddridge. He was retired from Venture Resources, a member of Miller Bowie Cattleman's Association and Gideon's International, a member and deacon of Mount Zion Baptist Church and a World War II Marine Corp veteran. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Harrist. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Vernon Nelson of Doddridge; one sister, Emily Gray Sheridan of Longview, Texas; two grandchildren, Janette Hall Campanilla of Texarkana and Michael Hall of Doddridge; two stepgrandchildren, Samantha Nelson and Timothy Nelson; six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Mount Zion Baptist Church with Tommy Henderson and Wayne Gray officiating. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery under direction of Hanner Funeral Service.
