MEVOLYN PURTLE

DeKALB, Texas—Mevolyn Faye Purtle, 91, of New Boston, Texas, died Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2018, in Texarkana. Mrs. Purtle was born May 23, 1927, in Bryans Mill, Texas. She was a homemaker and a member of Tapp United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Robert Purtle. Survivors include three children and spouses, Pam and Carl Ray and Marcus and Tina Purtle of New Braunfels, Texas, and Sharon and Danny Elkins of New Boston; one brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Herbert and Jan Purtle of Austin; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Tapp United Methodist Church, New Boston, with the Rev. Tommy Earl Burton officiating. Burial will be in Chapelwood Memorial Gardens Cemetery under direction of Bates Family Funeral Home. Visitation will be 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the church.
