ABNER DODEN KING, JR.

DeKalb, Texas Abner Doden King, Jr., age 77, passed this earth September 28, 2018 at his home. He was born May 13, 1941 in Atlanta, Texas to Abner Doden King, Sr. and Marylee (Pryor) King. Doden was a lifelong resident of DeKalb, Texas where he graduated in 1959. He served in the Marine Reserves, was a past member of the DeKalb Volunteer Fire Department and served on the DeKalb City Council and DeKalb ISD School Board. He was a member of the DeKalb United Methodist Church and attended Big Woods Congregational Methodist Church in his latter years. Doden was a devoted outdoorsman, an avid reader and collector of books, loved music of all genres and had a brilliant mind until the end. He was a devoted family man and husband. Doden was an owner/operator of King's Auto Store, Inc. since 1970 where he devotedly served the public and enjoyed his friends and patrons until his declining health didn't allow. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Barbara King, brother Robert P. King and wife Shelia, son Greg King and wife Michelle, daughter Terri McLarey and husband Lamar, daughter Robin Obenoskey and husband Casey, grandchildren Ethan King, Westin Fannin and wife Candice, Raley Tanner and husband Winston, Jarrod McLarey, Aaron McLarey, Mallery Obenoskey and Lakin Obenoskey, great grandchildren Avery Kyer, Levi McLarey and Maddox Fannin and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents Abner Doden King, Sr. and Marylee Pryor King and a granddaughter Lauren McLarey. Graveside Services will be held at 3:30 P.M. Sunday, September 30, 2018 at Big Woods Cemetery, DeKalb, Texas with Bro. Rocky Dodson and Bro. Shannon Crawford officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00 P.M. until 3:00 P.M. Sunday, September 30, 2018 at the DeKalb Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the DeKalb Volunteer Fire Department 110 E. Grizzly Street. DeKalb, Texas.
