There's a well-known Greek myth about Icarus, who attempted to escape Crete by flying aay on wings made of wax and feathers. His father, Daedalus, warned him not to fly too close to the sun. Icarus didn't listen. And well, you know what happens when wax meets heat.
Icarus fell to the earth.
Now are college students will have the opportunity to fly with the sun and in doing so prepare for a great future.
The University of Arkansas Hope Texarkana is building a one-megawatt solar array and learning lab on its Hope campus as part of the only program in the state to offer a Certificate of Proficiency in Solar Energy Technology. Students can go to earn an Associate of Applied Science in Power Technologies degree at UAHT.
The program makes UAHT an approved training provider for the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners
Right now, fossil fuels such as petroleum, natural gas and coal are still our primary energy sources. But as the technology progresses, renewable, sustainable energy sources such as solar will become more efficient and less expensive.
That's a good thing. And thanks to UAHT our young people will be prepared to take full advantage of the opportunities that will bring.
