Former Graphic Packaging employee accused of pilfering more than $1 million in items from Domino plant

ATLANTA, Texas -- A man has been arrested after law enforcement allegedly discovered more than $1 million in stolen Graphic Packaging International property at his home.

William Joshua Thompson, 43, of Atlanta, was booked into the Cass County jail Monday. He is charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance and theft of property over $300,000, according to a news release from the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Graphic Packaging is a paper mill in Domino, Texas. Thompson is a former employee, a company spokesperson said Wednesday.

On Monday, DPS served a search warrant and discovered the allegedly stolen items after a multi-agency investigation in Cass County.

The joint operation involved the DPS' Criminal Investigation Division, Texas Highway Patrol Division, Cass County Sheriff's Office and Cass County District Attorney's Office, according to the news release. GPI personnel assisted officers in identifying and removing the GPI items from the residence and estimated the property to be worth more than $1 million.

The GPI spokesperson did not have information on the types of items that allegedly were stolen.
