DeKALB, Texas—Gerald Calvin Tegel, 83, of New Boston, Texas, died Wednesday, March 29, 2017, in a Texarkana, Texas nursing home. Mr. Tegel was born Jan. 24, 1934, in Rowena, Texas. He was a retired parts expeditor at Red River Army Depot, former deacon with Old Salem Baptist Church, a member of First Baptist Church, New Boston, and an Army veteran. Survivors include his wife, Mary Lou Talen Tegel of New Boston; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Ralph Gibson of Hooks, Texas, and Shelly and Carl Crouch of Texarkana; five grandchildren, Kirk Williams of Fort Rucker, Ala., Jordan Gibson of Hooks, Texas, Meghaen Deville of College Station, Texas, Justin Crouch of Battle Creek, Mich., and Molly Crouch of Texarkana; six great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives. Services will be 3 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church with Dr. Patrick Hunter and the Rev. Willard Land officiating. Burial will be in Old Salem Cemetery under direction of Bates Family Funeral Home. Visitation will be 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the church. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 506 S.
