Margaret Smith

Margaret Alice (Williams) Smith died in her sleep at her home in Anderson, SC, on Wednesday, March 21, 2018. Well known to all as Sandy, she was born in New Orleans, LA in 1944. Sandy and her family moved to New Boston, TX, where she attended James Bowie High School and Texarkana Community College. She is best remembered as a staff photographer for the Texarkana Gazette and the Bowie County Citizens Tribune. She continued with her photography until her death, delighting friends and family with her excellent eye. She was also an avid gardener. She lived in Wales, UK, and Panama as well as several states in the US, with her sister Virginia. Left to cherish her memory are her sister, Ginny Nunnally; her aunt, Mary Louise Holland; niece, Christy McCarter, of New Boston, TX; and cousins of Norfolk, VA and Simms, TX. For anyone wishing to honor her memory, please send donations to any animal shelter, or adopt a pet, for Sandy loved and cared for the unwanted.
