BILLY SHEARS

Billy Lee Shears, 77, of Texarkana, Texas, died Sunday, Aug. 5, 2018, in a Dallas hospital. Mr. Shears was born April 1, 1941, in Lufkin, Texas. He was a former teacher with Liberty Eylau and Texas High School, an adult education teacher with Barry Telford Prison Unit and FCI Texarkana, a Licensed Professional Counselor with Sequel Youth and Family Services, former member of Texas State Teachers Association and a member of Texas State Teachers Association and Macedonia Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Mary Frances Shears of Texarkana; two daughters, Deidre Shears and Donna Shears Dounley of Texarkana; two grandchildren, Jessica A. Dounley of Commerce, Texas, and William Dounley Jr. of Dallas; two aunts, Viola Gilder and Era Mae Merrit of Lufkin, Texas; and one former son-in-law, William Dounley Sr. of Grapevine, Texas. Services will be noon Monday at Macedonia Baptist Church with the Revs. Kenneth Reid Sr., Leslie Brembry and O.J. Newburn officiating. Burial will be in Chapelwood Memorial Gardens Cemetery under direction of Haynes Mortuary. Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Online registration is at haynesmortuary.com.
