DR. STERLING LACY

DR STERLING E LACY, 77, of Texarkana Texas passed away November 29, 2018. He was born July 8, 1941 in Fairland, Oklahoma to Eugene Carl Lacy and Twila Mae (Terry) Lacy. Upon his mother's death, he was loved and raised as a son by Alta (Mathia) Lacy. He married W. Jean Lacy on May 27, 1962. They were blessed with 56 years of marriage. He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Timothy Lacy. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and is survived by his wife and two sons, David Lacy of Ft. Worth TX and Stephen Lacy of Roanoke TX; nine grandchildren: Gary and Christopher Lacy (Topeka KS), Brandi Martin (Glenwood IA), Josh Lacy (Texarkana TX), Caleb, Luke, Lane, and Lawson Lacy (Roanoke TX); Daniel Lacy (Magnolia AR) and one great granddaughter: Zita Alvarido (Topeka KS). Also surviving are his brother Terry Lacy (McPherson KS); sisters, Marquita Boehnke (Ellinwood KS), Dr. Linda Lacy (Riverside CA), and Peggy Williams (Miami OK) as well as numerous nephews and nieces. He began his walk with his Savior and Lord as a youth in Miami OK. He was ordained to the Christian ministry in 1962 and has ministered to churches in Indiana, Oklahoma, Missouri, Kanas, Arkansas, and Texas during his 56 years of ministry, as well as serving as Director of three counseling ministries over 51 years. He was a graduate of Miami (OK) High School; attended Cincinnati (OH) Christian University where he met his beautiful bride; received his BSL degree from Ozark Christian College; MTh from Midwestern School of Evangeliam; MS from Emporia State University; and PhD from Trinity Theological Seminary. Dr. Lacy loved his Country and was involved in numerous patriotic organizations and projects and served as Bowie County Judge from 2011-2014. His most recent community project was a commitment to placing God back in our public schools with posters honoring our national motto "In God We Trust." Visitation will be at East Funeral Home on Moores Lane on Mon. Dec 2 from 5-7PM with a celebration of his life at 2:00PM on Tues. Dec 3 at Church on the Rock. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to SoRichly at 216 E 3rd St, Texarkana AR 71824 to support the current poster project.
