VANCE JONES JR.

HEBER SPRINGS, Ark.—Vance Murphey Jones Jr., 80, of Heber Springs died Saturday, Jan. 13, 2018. Mr. Jones was born Dec. 2, 1937, in Texarkana, Texas. He was former Director of Finance for Alexandria, Va., public schools, employed with a variety of Arkansas state government agencies, former member of Little Rock School District Board and a Marine Corps and Peace Corps veteran. Survivors include his wife, Joyce Rae Timmons; one daughter, Sunita Kumari Jones of Alameda, Calif.; one son, Vance Murphey Jones III of Heber Springs; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Sandra Gail and John Robert Rea of Wake Village, Texas, and Bonnie Kaye and Dennis Coats of Atlanta, Texas; one brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Charles Boyd and Marinelle Timmons of Dickinson, Texas; and a number of other relatives. Memorial services will be 3 p.m. Feb. 17 at the home of Ralph and Gayle Hoffman, 16 Pointe Clear Dr., Little Rock. Memorials may be made to Humane Society of Heber Springs or a favorite charity.
