Cleda E. Thornton Butler passed away in her home at the age of 98 on Tuesday, January 23, 2018. Mrs. Butler was born January 22, 1920 in De Queen, Arkansas. She was retired from the Federal Government and was a member of Central Christian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Royce Thornton, Sr. and husband Neal Butler, and grandson Robert Kirk Fowler, her parents, William and Ada Evans, and her brothers and sisters. Survivors include: one son, Royce Thornton, Jr. and daughter-in-law: Mary Lou Thornton, one daughter, Diane Fowler and son-in-law, Dr. Littleton A. Fowler, five grandchildren, Gus Fowler and wife Nancy, Jamie Patton, Molly Pate, Meghann Crane and husband Sky, Jeremy Thornton and wife Leigh, ten great grandchildren, Heather Fowler Chandler and husband Corey, Morgan Patton Martin and husband Travis, Brittin Patton, Fowler Patton, Hanna Pate, Mallory Pate Smith and husband Corey, Thornton Crane, Josie Crane, Chet Thornton, Mattie Thornton, six great- great grandchildren, Marleigh Looney, Ryker Chandler, Bryce Smith, Harris Smith, Mila Trumble, James Patton Trumble and a host of friends and other relatives. Graveside services will be 4:00 P. M. Thursday at Chapelwood Memorial Gardens with Dr. Terry Droske officiating. Burial will be under the direction of Chapelwood Funeral Home.
