ATLANTA, Texas—J.W. Griffin, 85, of Atlanta died Monday, July 23, 2018, in an local nursing home. Mr. Griffin was born July 25, 1932, in Cass County, Texas. He was self-employed, formerly employed with Texas Highway Department and a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Lucille Griffin; one son, Jerry Griffin; one daughter, Nancy Lee; one sister, Mamie Roberts; five grandchildren, Michael Stringer, Mark Stringer, Jeric Griffin, Braven Griffin and Maggie Lee; one special friend, Melvin Coats; seven great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives. Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Hanner Funeral Home. Burial will be in New Colony Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
