MURIEL KUNKEL

Muriel Jean Kunkel, 89, of Texarkana, Texas, died Saturday, June 2, 2018, at her home. Mrs. Kunkel was born Oct. 7, 1928, in El Reno, Okla. She was a speech therapist, former president of Ladies Aid and a member of First Lutheran Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Merlin "Doc" Kunkel; and one daughter, Jane Carpenter. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Jim and Jan Kunkel of Atlanta, Texas; two daughters and sons-in-law, Julie and Mark Patterson of Texarkana and Dr. Jean and Allan Thomas of Lewiston, Idaho; one special friend and spouse, Bev and Don Schrader of Cheyenne, Wyo.; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives. Services will be 4 p.m. Tuesday at First Lutheran Church with the Rev. Scott Sundbye officiating. Cremation is under direction of Texarkana Funeral Home, Texas.
