Mary Josephine "Jo" Moore Quillin was born August 12, 1935 in Fouke, AR, and passed away in her home on Sunday, June 24 at the age of 82. Jo was raised in Fouke except for the four years she lived in Bremerton, WA during WWII. After returning to Arkansas, she graduated Fouke High School and attended Southern State in Magnolia, AR. In 1956 Jo married Lynn Quillin becoming a proud Air Force wife. They honeymooned on the road to Lakeland Air Force Base in Winter Haven, FL where Lynn was stationed. In 1959 they moved to Bay City and opened Bay City Office Supply which they owned for over 40 years. While working alongside her husband, Jo raised three daughters and supported them in their many activities. She hand-made dozens of dance recital costumes, spent summer Saturdays at swim meets and threw the best darn kids birthday parties ever! Jo was a member of First Baptist Church of Bay City and devoted 25 years to teaching a pre-school Sunday school class with her dear friend JoAnn Culbreth. She and JoAnn continued their service by creating the beautiful flower arrangements displayed in the sanctuary on Sundays. She was also a member of the Bay City Book Review Club and played bridge with the same group of wonderful friends for over 50 years. Jo was a kind and generous mother. She opened her home to everyone and she was always willing to help those in need. But her greatest joy was being "JoJo" to her three beautiful grandchildren, Austin, Dane and Kate Nathan. Jo is survived by her three daughters, Jennifer (Sonny), Kathleen (Keith), and Elizabeth, three beloved grandchildren, John Austin, Joseph Dane and Katherine Lyndsey Nathan, brother Johnny Moore of Texarkana, and sisters-in-law Theresa Webb of El Campo and Sibble Quillin of Rockwall. She is also survived by her much-loved nieces and nephews, Brenda Lanier, Carla Lovelace, Lisa Webb, Judy Stohle, Bob Quillin, Ed Quillin, Paul Webb and Mark Christopher Moore. Jo was preceded in death by her husband Lynn Quillin, her parents John Ollis and Zuella Moore, as well as her sister-in-law Alma Lanier and brothers-in-law Emmet Lanier, Dewey Paul Webb and Austin Quillin, Jr. A memorial and celebration of Jo's life will be held Saturday, June 30, at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 2321 Ave. F, Bay City, TX with Dr. Mike Zimmerman officiating. Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at the Houston National Cemetery. Online condolences may be shared with the family by visiting www.taylorbros.net.
