LISA STANLEY

On Friday before Easter, Lisa Jo Gregory Stanley graduated to the next level. Lisa spent 40 years dealing with a cantankerous husband, Stacy Stanley, which she could not have successfully managed had she not been equally stubborn and strongwilled. She is the child of Joe Gregory and June Laney Gregory, and thus she came by her nature honestly. The child, grandchild and greatgrandchild of ranchers, Scots and Irishmen she is. Now she is with her family in heaven. She leaves this place ahead of her mother June, her husband Stacy, brother Todd Gregory and his wife Karen, and much beloved son Duncan Stanley and nephew Tanner Gregory. Lisa spent 30 years in Texarkana, most of that time as the defacto and ultimately official Director of Transportation for Texarkana ISD. She took great pride in meeting the responsibility of keeping other people's children safe, and making the buses be there. She was a formal graduate of Abilene Christian University, and an honorary graduate of Texas Tech Law School—because she worked ridiculous hours to put her husband through. She was and is a Red Raider, and incredibly proud that her son Duncan is there now and about to finish his Masters' degree. She loved her family, and her church family, and they all loved her right back. She loved to travel, and saw most of the United States during her time, and not enough of the UK. The beach was her second home, and if there be beaches in heaven, I know where to find her. A memorial service to celebrate her graduation will be held at the Walnut Church of Christ in Texarkana on Tuesday morning, April 3, at 10:30. There will be an opportunity to visit with her family the afternoon before, on Monday April 2, beginning at 6:00 P.M., at her home—210 Quail Lane in Wake Village.
