CLARKSVILLE, Texas—John Smith Jr., 85, of Clarksville died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2018, in a Paris, Texas hospital. Mr. Smith was born Aug. 20, 1933, in Clarksville. He was formerly employed with Clarksville ISD, Dollar General, Stoneville Furniture Co., Lone star Steel and Annona Manufacturing Co., and a member of Zion Traveler Baptist Church. Survivors include six daughters, Patricia Pruitt, Marvlia Rosser, Sheila Nelson and Ramona Smith of Clarksville, Sharonda Smith of Mount Pleasant, Texas, and Vivian Ford of Corpus Christi, Texas; seven sons, Michael Nelson, Patrick Nelson and Derrick Smith of Clarksville, Kelvin Nelson of Corpus Christi, Texas, Stanley Smith of McAllen, Texas, Trent Nelson of Paris, Texas, and Lloyd Nelson of Idabel, Okla.; two sisters, Christine Amey and Lillie Malone of Oakland, Calif.; three brothers, Frank Henderson of Oakland, Calif., Moses Henderson of Pittsburgh, Calif., and Howard Smith of Clarksville; 27 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives. Services will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Zion Traveler Baptist Church, Clarksville, with P.A. Porchia officiating. Burial will be in Mount Olive Cemetery under direction of Citizen Funeral home.
