Richard Larry Dowd, age 72, of Little Rock, Arkansas, formerly of Texarkana, Arkansas, died Monday, October 29, 2018 at his residence. Mr. Dowd was born March 21, 1946 in Texarkana, Arkansas. He was retired from Cooper Tire and Rubber Company, longtime Democratic Party political organizer, election official and educational advocate in Miller County, Arkansas, served on the Red River Vocational Technical College Board of Trustees and on the Board of Visitors, Foundation Board of Directors and various other boards for the University of Arkansas Community College at Hope, was a Vietnam War Veteran and was a Methodist. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Peggy Maloy Dowd of Little Rock, Arkansas; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Sherri and Robert Beaty of Atlanta, Georgia, Amy Dowd Hinkle and Zack Hinkle of Little Rock, Arkansas, Lori Dowd Parker of Little Rock, Arkansas; seven grandchildren, Nick Beaty, Will Beaty, Abby Hinkle, Zoe Hinkle, Jacob Hinkle, Eleanor Parker, Hudson Parker and a number of other relatives. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday at the Texarkana Funeral Home, Texas Chapel with the Rev. Alan Greer officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday evening from 6:00 to 7:30 P.M. Memorials can be made to Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Arkansas, P.O.
