MELVIN CHAPMAN

Melvin Wayne Chapman, 79, of Texarkana, Ark., died Friday, Jan. 25, 2019, in a local nursing center. Mr. Chapman was born Sept. 6, 1939, in Stroud, Okla. He was a gas station attendant, a wrecker driver and a member of Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints. He was preceded in death by one son, Darrell Chapman. Survivors include four sons, Eddie Chapman of Columbus, Miss., Wayne Chapman of Winfield, Kan., Joe Chapman of Oklahoma City and Donald Chapman; four daughters, Margaret Tucker of Jefferson, Texas, Pawnee Watson of Perry, Okla., and Belinda and Frances; one brother, Jimmy Jordan of Lake St. Louis, Mo.; three sisters, Cleto LeClair of Yukon, Okla., Avis Sears of Ponca City, Okla., and Jean Mort of Miami, Okla.; and a number of other relatives. Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Texarkana Funeral Home, Texas, with Florance officiating.
