SMITHERENE HARRIS

HOPE, Ark.—Smitherene Harris, 92, of Houston died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2019, in a Sugar Land, Texas, hospital. Mrs. Harris was born Nov. 23, 1926. She was a homemaker and a Christian. She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Harris; one daughter, Sandra. Survivors include one son, John "Ken" Harris of Houston; one daughter-in-law, Wanda Harris of Houston; three sisters, Thelma Owens of Humble, Texas, Zella Watson of Leesville, La., and Alvanelle Haywood of Moreno Valley, Calif.; one brother, the Rev. Samuel G. Orange Sr. of Springhill, La.; and a number of other relatives. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Shiloh Baptist Church, Bradley, Ark. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery under direction of Brandon's Mortuary. Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church.
